Perry is a village in Lake County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,663 at the 2010 census. It is named in honor of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry to commemorate his victory over the British fleet at the Battle of Lake Erie in September 1813. The battle was a turning point in the War of 1812. Perry is known for its public schools whose construction was influenced by the nearby Perry Nuclear Generating Station.
It has participated in the Tree City USA program since 1988. Perry offers two parks. Lake Erie Bluffs located at 2901 Clark Road sits on 600 acres and offers hiking trails, a reservable three-season shelter with views of Lake Erie, three scenic overlooks, two access points to the natural beach, fishing, picnic tables and restrooms.
Perry Township Park located at 2815 Perry Park Road consists of over 50 acres of land and includes a concession stand which operates Memorial Day to Labor Day, restrooms and shower facilities that accommodate the physically challenged, picnic tables, outdoor grills, a sheltered picnic pavilion, children’s playground, ball diamonds with bleachers, tennis courts, a basketball court and camping spaces.
