Units For Sale in Fairport Harbor

“Fairport Harbor offers one of the most beautiful natural settings of any coastal community on the Great Lakes. This charming harbor town is perched on the bluffs above the mouth of the Grand River and overlooks two historic lighthouses. Just 30 miles northeast of Cleveland, this special destination is an easy day trip or a great place to start an exploration of the eastern shore of Lake Erie.” – The Village of Fairport Harbor

Fairport Harbor is located in Lake County, Ohio, United States along Lake Erie at the mouth of the Grand River. The population was 3,109 at the 2010 census. Fairport Harbor is home to two lighthouses: the Fairport Harbor West Breakwater Light operated by the United States Coast Guard and the Grand River Light operated by the Fairport Harbor Historical Society.

It is also the home to the Finnish Heritage Museum. The Fairport Harbor Historical Society operates the Marine Museum in the Grand River Lighthouse as well. The village is home to eight churches and the Fairport Harbor Business Association supports various businesses within the village. Fairport Harbor’s location at the mouth of the Grand River made it an ideal place for a settlement.

After receiving federal sponsorship, the village’s port flourished and an influx of Finns, Hungarians and Slovaks arrived there. The port also imported iron ore for use at area steel mills. The port continues operation at a more limited capacity today. – Wikipedia
